Welcome to Crafting Careers, my name is Dr. Devra Hock-Reid and I’m here to bring my experience in graduate school and job applications to you! I offer CV and Personal Statement/Letter of Interest reviewing services and graduate school application process consultations, and resume reviewing and cover letter writing/reviewing services and job application process consultations, along with hands-on, tailored assistance options for both graduate school and job applications.
I want to help you highlight your skills and market yourself, as well as help you match your skills and experience to a wide range of possible job directions.
Outside of two rounds of grad school applications myself, I advised undergrads at University of Nebraska-Lincoln about the graduate application process as the Student Success Program Coordinator for the student club within the Department of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences (EAS), helped develop graduate application rubrics for EAS as part of the Diversity Committee, and have experience directly assisting people in their grad school search and application process.
Professionally, I’ve sat on hiring committees, which has given experience on the hiring side of the coin and let me know exactly what hiring managers are looking for, I took business writing classes at Montana State University and have used those skills to help individuals transition careers by helping them write cover letters for industry, education, grant writing, and government sectors. I have experience in helping people anywhere in their career stage, from those with years of experience under their belt to recent college graduates, and have recently been through the current state of job hunting myself.
